United States: UN’s Secretary-General Mr. António Guterres cited that it is time to “truly flood Gaza with lifesaving aid.”

He even condemned the starvation inside the strip as “moral outrage,” and urged for a truce between Israel and Hamas to come into effect as soon as possible.

Guterres added, “Any further onslaught will make things even worse — worse for Palestinian civilians, worse for hostages, and worse for all people in the region,” as US News reported.

More about the announcement from the Sec-Gen

He addressed it the day after the UN’s Security Council failed to come to an agreement on the wording of a US-sponsored resolution calling for “an immediate and sustained cease-fire.”

Guterres repeatedly stressed that the problem of providing aid to Gaza is immense since international aid agencies have mostly blamed this on the Israeli government.

He said, “Here from this crossing, we see the heartbreak and heartlessness … a long line of blocked relief trucks on one side of the gates, the long shadow of starvation on the other.”

Humanitarian aid waiting to get inside Gaza

Egypt’s North Sinai province has some 7000 trucks that were loaded with humanitarian aid, waiting to get into Gaza, which was announced by Gov. Mohammed Abdel‐Fadeil Shousha in the statement, as US News reported.

“It is time for an ironclad commitment by Israel for total … access for humanitarian goods to Gaza, and in the Ramadan spirit of compassion, it is also time for the immediate release of all hostages,” said Guterres.

According to the reports, there are around 100 people are currently held hostage by Hamas and the remains of about 30 others have also been taken in the striking attack that claimed 1,200 lives, mostly civilians, and started the war.

Comments by Israel amid growing refugee problem

It was the spokesperson of the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office who commented on the midst of all this drama. They referred to a post on Facebook of Foreign Minister Israel Katz, where he accused the UN secretary-general of allowing the UN to become “antisemitic and anti-Israeli.”

More than one and a half million Palestinian refugees are now sheltering at Rafah having fled former Israel offensive elsewhere, as US News reported.

Netanyahu has defined his stepping up on the assault to accomplish the Israeli military’s announced plans even though it has continued. He has also added that this is critical in reaching the stated aim of eliminating Hamas, as US News reported.

The military has claimed that Rafah is Hamas’ last important stronghold and ground troops must eliminate these four battalions.

Victims of attack in Gaza

Close to 40,000 people have become victims of the attack, as per the health officials of Gaza, many of the war-torn buildings also resulted in the displacement of around 80 percent of the total population of Gaza, in an enclave holding 2.3 million people.

As per the Health Ministry of Gaza, the bodies of 72 killed people were brought to hospitals as of Saturday, within the last 24 hours.

The Ministry of Health doesn’t differentiate between civilians and combatants, but it brought forward that children and women are in the most number of the injured and dead. Israel holds Hamas responsible for civilian deaths, and it also accuses it of misusing residential areas.
